World No. 1 Jannik Sinner and No. 2 seed Carlos Alcaraz are set to clash in the 2025 US Open men’s final after powering through their semi-final matches on Friday at Flushing Meadows.

Sinner, the defending champion, fought off an injury scare to defeat Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. The 24-year-old Italian, fresh off Australian Open and Wimbledon titles, stumbled in the second set but rallied after a medical timeout to secure the win. With this victory, Sinner joins tennis legends Rod Laver, Roger Federer, and Novak Djokovic as the only men in the Open era to reach all four Grand Slam finals in a single season.

Earlier, Alcaraz dominated 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6(4), 6-2. The 22-year-old Spaniard broke early and held firm, even as Djokovic battled a neck issue in the third set. Alcaraz, who hasn’t dropped a set all tournament, is chasing his sixth Grand Slam title and second US Open crown.

The final marks the third Grand Slam showdown this year between Sinner and Alcaraz, with each claiming one win in their prior meetings. Alcaraz holds a 9-5 edge in their head-to-head, including a dramatic five-set victory in the French Open final.

Djokovic, 38, tipped his hat to the young stars after his loss. “They’re just too good right now,” he said. “I’m proud of my season, but the physicality got me today.”

Sunday’s final is set to deliver a blockbuster in the Sinner-Alcaraz rivalry, with the tennis world buzzing for what’s next.
